Picnic on a Hill
September 1998, near Wilton, Wisconsin
Submitted by Mary Ellen Frame
This rolling countryside is best suited to grazing and hayfields, with the interspersed woodlots. In early fall, we can enjoy home-grown tomatoes and cucumbers with our lunch.

After one Hard Frost
October 2, 2004 at Wolf Hill Farm, near La Crescent, Minnesota
Submitted by Caroline van Schaik, Wolf Hill Farm
These were some of the 150 pounds of tomatoes I picked that day and the 400-plus pounds picked before the week was out not counting the fruit I had to abandon. That this abundance was from the most awfullest-feeling soil under wet and sluggy conditions. That all that green turned to red in my basement and that I canned the last of them on December 16th.
