Land & Stewardship Legacies

The Land Stewardship Project's Land & Stewardship Legacies initiative provides a way for your family's legacy on the land to continue by using it to support LSP's work or to provide opportunities for a new generation of stewardship farmers. LSP is now able to accept gifts of farmland or other real estate from members or other friends of our organization. The Stewardship Legacy secures financial resources to support the work of the Land Stewardship Project now and into the future. The Land Legacy is distinguished by accepting gifts of suitable parcels of farmland to serve as incubators for beginning farmers, or sold outright to promising graduates of LSP's Farm Beginnings® program. Believe in Democracy!

For 23 years, Land Stewardship Project members have found creative ways to effectively address the threats of industrial farming, while at the same time establishing new farming methods that protect soil and water, revitalize rural communities and produce healthy local food.

We believe this what a living democracy looks like – ordinary citizens speaking out and taking action on the issues most important to them – problems like food quality, water contamination and the future of our farmland.

It takes passion and strategically placed funds to make sure citizen voices are heard in Washington D.C. or in Dodge county. Support democracy in action with your gift today!

Ninth grader Kayla Koether and her father Greg flew to Washington D.C. in March 2005 with 12 other farmers from Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Ohio. They held 43 visits with key decision makers in Congress, government agencies and several environmental and religious groups.

One of the key issues for the group was the impact of unlimited agricultural subsidies. Recently West African leader, Madame Alimata Traoré, spoke about how those subsidies impact her home country of Mali.

Fully funding and implementing the Conservation Security program (CSP) was another key point that the group made.

A lot of political lobbying and citizens’ tax dollars are being put into promoting an industrial agricultural system that focuses only on high production, and results in low prices for farmers and disastrous effects on the land. While as individuals we have little control over such matters, when we work together we do. Through Land Stewardship Project, your voice joins with others and the combined chorus cannot be ignored. Send a gift to Land Stewardship Project today! Every dollar you give will extend our efforts and strengthen our common voice.
