Farm transition plans are a powerful tool for guiding the future of your farm. But making that plan is a complex process, and it can be helpful to find an ally who can assist you and your farm team.
LSP’s Farm Transition Coaches work with farm families during their transition planning. Coaches start by listening to the family’s story and priorities, and then facilitate conversations, ask clarifying questions, connect people to helpful resources, and check in regularly.
The Farm Transition Coach Service has two coaches who are working in southeastern and western Minnesota. This service was launched in 2012 in response to a need articulated by the Plainview Land Access Organizing Committee in response to a need articulated by several retiring farm families. This service is currently expanding, and LSP will be seeking more transition coaches in Fall 2014.
