Are you a beginning farmer looking to rent or purchase farmland in the Midwest? Or are you an established farmer/landowner in the Midwest who is seeking a beginning farmer to purchase or rent your land, or to work with in a partnership situation?

The Land Stewardship Project’s Farm Beginnings program has simple application forms available for people seeking farmland or farmers. (You can find the forms to the left).

Once the form is filled out, the information can be circulated by LSP via the Land Stewardship Letter, LIVE-WIRE and through our various networks. To obtain a form and for more information, e-mail LSP’s Dori Eder at dori@landstewardshipproject.org or call 612-578-4497.

Winnowburrow Farm in western Wisconsin (north of Menomonie) is seeking a beginning farmer who is interested in gaining experience as a produce manager. Winnowburrow's production is focused on rare and endangered heirlooms, and a major component of its enterprise is seed-saving. The farm markets through a CSA as well as a farm stand. The owners are seeking someone who can help expand vegetable production; this is a good opportunity to gain farm management experience to qualify for Farm Service Agency financing. Applicants must have a minimum of at least three years experience in all aspects of growing produce on a working farm. They must commit to working at least three day per week on the farm, help make CSA deliveries and help operate the market/farm stand one day per week. The pay is a percentage, based on experience. Terry Cunningham is seeking a farmer to join his 109-acre operation in southern Minnesota's Freeborn County (near Twin Lakes). The operation is a certified organic grain and hay farm. Cunningham is looking for higher value crop use for about 10 acres of slopes in permanent hay. He is seeking someone with knowledge of in-demand medicinal or dried herb crops to grow and market. The most prevalent annual weeds are pigweed, lambs quarter and some velvet leaf.
