LSP Family Farm Breakfast at the Capitol Feb. 17

CONTACT: Bobby King, LSP, 612-722-6377

1/12/09
SAINT PAUL, Minn.—The fourth annual Land Stewardship Project (LSP) Family Farm Breakfast at the Capitol will be Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at Christ Lutheran Church in Saint Paul (105 University Avenue West—across from the Minnesota State Capitol). This event is open to the public and the cost is $10. To reserve a spot or to volunteer, contact LSP’s Sarah Lesnar at 612-722-6377 or slesnar@landstewardshipproject.org.

As in the past, this breakfast will feature food grown on the farms of LSP members. Over the years, this event has evolved into a great opportunity for citizens and legislators to come together over delicious locally-produced food to discuss policies that promote sustainable rural communities and vibrant family farms. On the half-hour, there will be short presentations on LSP’s work and messages from legislative leaders.

Citizens are encouraged to invite their legislators to meet them at the breakfast. After the breakfast, there will be a short training from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by meetings with legislators at the Capitol. Some of the top issues to be featured at the 2009 breakfast and the lobbying to follow are affordable health care for farmers and all Minnesotans, and the changes made to the Green Acres program that discourage stewardship farming and the preservation of farmland.

For information on how to invite lawmakers to the event, contact LSP’s Bobby King at 612-722-6377 or bking@landstewardshipproject.org.
