Governor Mark Dayton Featured Guest at “The Best Breakfast in Town” CONTACT: Bobby King, LSP, 612-722-6377; bking@landstewardshipproject.org 1/30/12 As in the past, “The Best Breakfast in Town” will feature food grown on the farms of LSP members. Over the years, this event has evolved into an excellent opportunity for citizens and legislators to come together over delicious locally produced food to discuss policies that promote sustainable rural communities and vibrant family farms. This year, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton will be a featured guest at the breakfast. Following the breakfast at 9:20 a.m., there will be lobbying training on LSP’s legislative priorities. Citizens will then head over to the Capitol to meet with legislators. Breakfast participants who plan on taking part in the lobbying training should LSP know when registering. Citizens are encouraged to invite their legislators to meet them at the breakfast. Contact information for lawmakers is online here. Contact information for state Senators is available by calling 651-296-0504 or 888-234-1112. For Representatives, call 651-296-2146 or 800-657-3550. People who plan on lobbying at the Capitol after the breakfast can make appointments for later in the day with legislators. Entrance to the lot is on Auroa Ave., which is off Rice Street, just south of University Ave. LSP (www.landstewardshipproject.org) was launched in 1982 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering the ethic and practice of stewardship on America’s farms. The advancement of economic and social justice for people who produce food and care for the land is a guiding principle for LSP’s membership base of farmers and non-farmers alike. LSP has offices in the Minnesota communities of Lewiston, Montevideo and South Minneapolis. -30- |
