LSP’s annual picnic is back this year — with a few exciting changes! Join LSP members for a fun and casual evening of delicious local food, live music, and dancing celebrating 40 years of keeping the land and people together! For our first cookout since the pandemic started, we’re shaking things up a bit this year. This year’s event will include:

• Catered meals from local restaurants! You’ll have your choice of three vendors to choose from, with options to cover most dietary needs.
• The perennial favorite: Pie Raffle!
• A silent auction in support of LSP’s work featuring local businesses and artists.
• An opportunity to hear from LSP members and staff about on-the-ground organizing and how you can get involved!

Please join us at the second of four bonfire celebrations we’ll be holding throughout the summer and fall to mark LSP’s 40th birthday. We’ll be gathering on Sunday, Aug. 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Winnowburrow Farm northeast of Colfax, Wis.  We’ll provide the s’mores; please bring a beverage and a chair or blanket! Join LSP in western Minnesota for camping, grilling, and a potluck Friday night at Monson State Park in Sunberg Minn., then Saturday morning for a 45-mile bike ride. We stop at Ordway Prairie, the historic Terrace Mill, and at Swift Falls City Park — all places where you can join us or leave after a section of the ride. We’ll talk about land management, native prairie, and enjoy an easy paced ride together. As before,  this ride is a fundraiser for LSP’s Land Access/Land Legacy program work, and riders are encouraged to collect sponsorships — there will be prizes!! Seeds Farm in Northfield, Minn., will be hosting a Land Stewardship Project 40th Anniversary Square Dance Friday, Sept. 23, starting at 6 p.m. Supper will be served by the Local Plate. For details, e-mail LSP’s Elizabeth Makarewicz at EMakarewicz@landstewardshipproject.org.
