Aleta Borrud
Retired Physician-Rochester, Minn.
Aleta Borrud is a retired physician who brings to LSP her passion for rural healthcare access. Aleta first engaged with LSP’s policy efforts to expand MinnesotaCare, but after inheriting a small grains farm in western North Dakota, she became invested in understanding how soil health principles could counter soil acidification and provide resistance to drought, weeds, and pests. Aleta used her knowledge from LSP to assist her family in transitioning their land to a young farmer who is implementing a range of practices, from no-till to mob rotational grazing. Aleta sees LSP’s role in making our working lands more resilient as ever more urgent as we witness the rapid changes in our world due to climate change. Aleta is committed to fighting for the policy changes that will keep people on the land, growing food, in connected communities working together for a just, sustainable food and farming system.
