In the Land Stewardship Project's work, one of our focuses is on the water and soil in the Chippewa River watershed, but how often do we venture out onto the river we are championing?
In honor of the river, we are holding a fundraising canoe/kayak ride on Sunday, Sept., 24, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. We will be starting at Lentz landing (next to Easy Bean Farm, near Milan, Minn., where Highway 40 crosses the Chippewa River) and canoeing to the Watson Lion’s Park. The canoe ride is 3-4 hours and should be full of birds, critters and fun river facts. We will end with a potluck picnic at the Watson Lion's Park, with LSP providing Pastures A Plenty bratwursts. It’s a gorgeous time of year to be on the river!
How is it a fundraiser? Participants are asked to have sponsors for their ride. Each participant must have at least one sponsor (you can be your own sponsor). We are suggesting $25 for sponsorships and the money goes to support the Chippewa 10% Project’s work in the Chippewa River watershed. Please bring your own canoe or kayak, we can help shuttle you back to your car at the end. Register below or by calling LSP's Robin Moore at 320-321-5244. You can also e-mail her.
See you on the water!
