Join the Land Stewardship Project, the League of Women Voters, and the Izaak Walton League for another workshop designed for non-operating farmland owners. These workshops are open to all, with a $20 suggested donation to help cover lunch and expenses.
In the morning, women landowners will have the option of joining a women’s-only session where we will share our challenges and successes in land management, explore a suite of resources and strategies for making conservation changes in your rental agreements, and finally learn about methods of observing, assessing, and testing your farmland soils.
A morning session led by the Izaak Walton League, open to all, will go over the basics of how, as a landowner, to pursue conservation change and soil building on the acres you rent out. You will work on understanding your goals and priorities, as well as learn about strategies for entering challenging conversations with your renter.
We will all come together for lunch and conversation. After lunch there will be a panel of experienced professionals to answer questions you have about farming and land management including: a farmer dedicated to soil building with cover crops and other methods, a landowner working with her renter to build soil on her acres, a Minnesota soil scientist, and a cover crop consultant.
