Brian DeVore joined LSP’s staff in 1994 and his responsibilities include coordinating media relations, editing the Land Stewardship Letter, producing the Ear to the Ground podcast, administering the organization’s website, and editing special publications. DeVore grew up on a crop and livestock farm in southwestern Iowa and, as a Peace Corps Volunteer, operated a dairy cooperative in Lesotho. He has a degree in agricultural journalism from Iowa State University and before joining LSP’s staff, worked as a reporter for the Des Moines Register, the Winona Daily News, and Farm Futures. DeVore has written freelance articles for a wide range of agricultural and environmental magazines and contributed chapters to various publications, including the groundbreaking 2002 book, The Farm as Natural Habitat: Reconnecting Food Systems with Ecosystems. In 2018, DeVore authored the University of Wisconsin Press book, Wildly Successful Farming: Sustainability and the New Agricultural Land Ethic, which featured numerous LSP farmer-members.
