Topics covered during this Land Stewardship Project Soil Builders' workshop include cover crops, roller-crimping, no-till, interseeding and grazing covers.
• TJ Kartes of Blooming Prairie, Minn., is the cover crop specialist at Saddle Butte AG. Both on his own family’s land and on other southern Minnesota farms, TJ’s extensive experience with cover crop seeding methods, seed varieties, and seeding rates has helped Minnesota farmers successfully cover crop many acres.
• Dairy Farmer Robb Miller of Lewiston, Minn., has been fall cover cropping with triticale for 7 years to provide supplement feed for his dairy cows. For the past three years, Robb has been no-tilling soybeans into the residual stubble. Robb also uses a vertical tillage implement to reduce the impact on the soil.
Lunch & Registration:
A hot meal is available for purchase after the meeting; please RSVP by Jan. 22. To register or for more information contact LSP's Shona Snater (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Sarah Fillius (email@example.com) at 507-523-3366.
