The Olmsted County Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting Indiana farmer Rick Clark during the 2020 I-90 Soil Health Stop in Stewartville, Minn. Clark is a 5th generation farmer and has been farming for 35 years. He has included no-till and cover crops in his system for the past 10 years.

According to No-Till Farmer, “To Rick Clark, ‘Farming Green’ is a systematic approach to regenerative soil health and that’s what he brings to the 7,000 acres he manages at both Clark Land & Cattle and for his family. He strives to be the best steward of the land. A main component of his no-till system is maximizing cover crop performance and planting his cash crops into living covers to build biomass, suppress weeds, recycle nutrients and feed soil microbes.”

The Land Stewardship Project is co-sponsoring this event, which will include presentations by local farmers who are utilizing various soil health practices. For details and to RSVP by Feb. 26, contact the Olmsted County SWCD at 507-328-7070 or SWCD@co.olmsted.mn.us. Event fee is $15.00 per person.

DIRECTIONS: From I-90, take the exit for Highway 63 and head south for nine miles. The Stewartville Civic Center will be on the left, on the corner of Highway 63 and 2nd St. SE.
