MARSHALL, Minn. — A public meeting on how we can work together to address the current healthcare crisis in Minnesota will be held Tuesday, July 10, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Marshall (1301 South 4th Street). Registration and refreshments for this joint Land Stewardship Project (LSP)-Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) meeting will begin at 6 p.m. For more information, contact LSP’s Paul Sobocinski at 507-430-1509 or sobopaul@landstewardshipproject.org, or the MNA’s Geri Katz at 651-252-5510 or Geri.Katz@mnnurses.org.

Because the healthcare crisis is not something any of us can solve on our own, this meeting will give local residents a chance to share their stories and problems they are facing with each other. Together we will discuss how we can connect around our shared values across political divides to work together and develop a system that provides affordable, quality healthcare for everyone.

There will be a special presentation on a “Minnesota Health Plan” by Rose Roach, executive director of the Minnesota Nurses Association. She will present a proposal that has the intention of simplifying healthcare in Minnesota and making it accessible to everyone. This plan would do away with co-pays, deductibles and “in-network” and “out-of-network” red tape while protecting healthcare quality.
