You are invited to join fellow Land Stewardship Project members and supporters at the U.S. House Agriculture Committee Farm Bill Listening Session, Thursday, Aug. 3, at Farmfest outside of Redwood Falls.
During this crucial time, when the 2018 Farm Bill is starting to be written, we need to make our voices heard for the people, the land and our communities by showing up and taking advantage of this key opportunity in an organized and prepared way.
This is the one opportunity in Minnesota we have to speak directly to some key decision makers on the U.S. House Agricultural Committee. Any farmer or resident can sign up to testify for two minutes and speak directly to the Committee.
As LSP members, we need to be there to speak as well as to be a powerful supportive presence for others who speak so that the Committee hears and sees our message. We want to bring a group that is clearly identified as representing LSP.
The land, water and our communities cannot be exposed to another Farm Bill that pushes billions of our tax dollars in the wrong direction. Our public dollars should be used for the public good.
We need a Farm Bill that invests in soil health, family farms, beginning farmers, land stewardship and local economies—not in more corporate concentration!
We will gather for a pre-meeting at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church to prep those who want to speak, get our hats and tickets, and organize our group before we head over.
Please let us know if you can attend so we can get you a Farmfest ticket. Also let us know if you would like to testify for two minutes.
To let us know you’re coming, e-mail Ben Anderson or call him at 612-760-3129. You can also RSVP here.
