Planting in the Dust was written by Nancy Paddock, a poet and former editor of the Land Stewardship Letter. This play featured a farm woman named “Annie,” who spoke passionately about the land abuses she was witnessing in her community. During the 1980s, LSP used various actors to put on this play throughout the Midwest, and it was even presented overseas. After each performance, organizers would lead audience discussions about soil stewardship and its connection to the long-term viability of farming and rural communities.
