CHATFIELD, Minn. — No-till and cover crops will be the focus of a Land Stewardship Project (LSP) Zoom event Friday, Aug. 14, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Join the event 10 minutes before 1 p.m. for music and social time. All Zoom experience levels are welcome and guidance on using the platform will be given in the first 10 minutes of the program. The event is free, but registration is required. To reserve a spot, visit https://landstewardshipproject.org/events/notillandcovers and click the link at the bottom of the page to fill out the required information fields. After registering, an e-mail with the event link and dial-in number will be sent to you. Participants may video-connect from laptops or telephones, or simply call into the event.
The event will feature Chatfield farmer Rod Nelson. He has been no-till farming for the past 40 years and has recently incorporated cover crops into his system. This spring, Nelson knifed in manure and no-tilled corn into standing rye with success and will share his learning experiences and techniques during his presentation.
This event will also include small group discussions and time for questions and answers. While we will miss seeing people in person, the event is going to be engaging and interactive. Contact LSP’s Shona Snater at ssnater@landstewardshipproject.org with any questions or for help registering.
Event sponsors include Albert Lea Seed House, La Crosse Seed, Prairie Creek Seed, and Zabel Seed.
