Barb Sogn-Frank has been an LSP member since 2015 when she moved from South Dakota to make Minnesota home. She joined LSP’s staff three years ago as a community organizer. She began her work in the Policy and Organizing Department, helping members fighting factory farms that threaten their rural communities. In summer of 2020, she stepped away for several months to attend to intensive medical care and transition needs for a family member. Now she is thrilled to be back working on the Programs Department’s Soil Health Team to help advance work in regenerative agriculture research and practice. Barb is thankful that her livelihood is grounded in the value that living and working in harmony with nature is vital to this, and future generations. And she knows building healthy soil creates the best foundation to support that harmonious effort to create healthy, just, diverse communities that thrive and enjoy clean water and a safer, healthier planet. She loves learning about beekeeping, ecosystems, and old growth forests, and enjoys hiking and other outdoor adventures with her family (including canines) and friends, and singing silly songs with big groups of people.
