Established farmers and non-operating landowners mark your calendars for Tuesday evenings starting February 2nd from 5:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. for a Farm Transition Planning series of workshop topics that include goal setting, financial planning, legal aspects, long-term care considerations, introduction to soil health, and planning for conservation. There will be an opportunity to listen to and interact with guest speakers, including farmers and a chance to network with others.
Soil Health with NRCS's Kristin Brennan: If the concept of soil health and systems are new to you, this is a great workshop to get the basics with NRCS Assistant State Soil Scientist and State Soil Health Specialist Kristin Brennan. Understanding soil health helps one navigate the value or impact of farming practices, can help shape your choices and goals, and will provide a foundation for making sustainable farm decisions as you plan forward. Participants will enjoy a presentation from Brennan, then have a chance to ask soil-building questions of her and a farmer .
