In February 2018, the Land Stewardship Project board of directors created the Land Stewardship Action Fund (LSAF), a 501 c4 partner organization, because they recognized the power that comes with being able to drive forward the mission and goals of LSP with an expanded set of political and electoral tools.
LSAF came out of the realization that our members and leaders could no longer sit on the sidelines in the current political environment, but instead must proactively engage in elections so that we have a say in who is elected and representing us. Collectively, we need to make a bigger difference to advance our values of stewardship, justice, democracy, community, and health for people and the land. Part of doing that is identifying and supporting candidates who can help move us forward.
During each election we need to cast our votes, up and down the ballot, to elect champions who are ready and willing to take responsibility for the shared future of our state. We need leaders who will act as our advocates and take our crises seriously — from healthcare to the decimation of family farms and local rural economies. We need them to realize the key to solving these crises is listening to the people in our communities who are being impacted. These leaders must see these people as the source of long-term, transformational change.
That’s why we need you to get involved by committing to voting and to organizing the people in your network to do the same. By working together, we can have strong leaders in office who share our vision and values at all levels of government.
