SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison will keynote the Land Stewardship Project’s Family Farm Breakfast at the Capitol on Thursday, March 13, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at Christ Lutheran Church on Capitol Hill (105 University Avenue West). To reserve a spot, see bit.ly/familyfarmbreakfast2025 or call 612-722-6377.
Since 2005, the “Best Breakfast in Town” has been an opportunity for Land Stewardship Project (LSP) members and allies to get together with lawmakers and other public officials over locally sourced food and discuss policy issues related to beginning farmer and emerging farmer support, soil health, water quality, continuous living cover research, farm to school initiatives, markets for small and mid-sized farmers, agricultural consolidation, land access and local democracy. As in the past, after the breakfast participants will have an opportunity to meet with lawmakers and other public officials at the Capitol to discuss issues they are concerned about.
Ingredients for this year’s meal will be sourced from over a dozen area farms, and the food will be prepared by chefs Jenny Breen, Carlyn Shanley and Ben Rengstorf. Co-sponsors of the 2025 Family Farm Breakfast at the Capitol are Clean River Partners, CURE, Climate Land Leaders, Big River Farms, Greener Pastures, Latino Economic Development Center, Regenerative Ag Alliance, Midwest Farmers of Color Collective, Renewing the Countryside, Sharing Our Roots, COPAL and the Good Acre.
Attorney General Ellison has a long history of working on issues related to consolidation in the food and farming system and supporting rural communities, including recently joining the U.S. Federal Trade Commission in filing a lawsuit related to farmers’ “right to repair” equipment they own. Ellison is scheduled to participate in an LSP town hall meeting on right to repair and agricultural consolidation on Tuesday, March 4, in Donnelly, Minn. Details are at landstewardshipproject.org.
